Aviva Studios, Fire Escape

At Aviva Studios in Manchester, a striking new cultural venue, our custom stainless steel LED Glowrail was used in multiple key locations, including an orange powder-coated handrail on the fire escape. This handrail not only provides a vital safety function but also adds a distinctive, bold touch to the space.

The fire escape, with its functional yet visually impactful orange finish, highlights the importance of both practicality and aesthetics in the design of the building. Designed by Ellen van Loom of OMA and with lighting by BDP, the Glowrail was specified by The Light Lab to enhance several areas throughout the studios, blending seamlessly with the contemporary architectural vision.

This integration of the orange powder-coated handrail, alongside the sleek Glowrail lighting, brings together form and function in a way that supports the building’s multifaceted purpose, from intimate performances to large-scale events.
