Trondheim Theatre (Trøndelag Teater) is a cornerstone of Norway’s cultural scene. Founded in 1937, this historic venue in Trondheim has been captivating audiences with a mix of classic and contemporary performances. Known for its innovative stage design and commitment to both local and international talent, the theatre has become a hub for creativity, enriching the cultural landscape of Norway’s third-largest city. Whether you’re a local or visiting, Trondheim Theatre offers a unique glimpse into Norway’s vibrant artistic community.

As part of the theatre’s recent renovation, The Light Lab collaborated with Skanska Norway to fabricate and install a custom helix-shaped LED handrailGlowrail—for the theatre’s striking helical stair. The handrail was powder-coated in a bold orange to perfectly match the orange steel walls of the stairwell, creating a seamless integration with the space’s industrial aesthetic.

To ensure an impeccable fit, The Light Lab 3D scanned the stair before fabrication, guaranteeing a precise build. Custom brackets were also designed and powder-coated in orange to match, with a clean, minimalist look that eliminates cover plates for a sleek finish. The result is a striking lighting solution that enhances the space while blending form, function, and cutting-edge design.

Full project case study coming soon.
