W Edinburgh - Bespoke

The Light Lab fabricated and installed impressive large-scale illuminated lettering within the W Edinburgh, spanning floors 3-12 in the main stairwell of the hotel, with a total height of approximately 53 meters (174 feet). Designed by LIGHTALLIANCE, the lettering is a striking visual feature, designed to captivate attention and highlight each floor of the hotel.
The letters were created using Glowform, a custom-fitting, low-profile, high-efficiency LED system developed by The Light Lab. This flexible lighting solution was tailored to fit the unique shapes of the letters, ensuring a crisp and uniform illumination across the entire height of the building. Laser-cut acrylic was used for the lettering, providing a sleek and modern finish that enhances the overall design. Due to the very specific location of the illuminated numbers within the stairwell a custom metalwork support system was designed, and was required to offer continuous support throughout the full height of the space.
