Donau Plex, Vienna

Donau Plex cinema is one of our largest global exterior projects to date at the new Westfield Donau Zentrum; a modern commercial complex in Vienna.
Working to the initial concept by BWM & Riedl Architects and lighting designers Match Lighting, The Light Lab fabricated bespoke linear fittings, for the façade of the cinema complex, to cover the entirety of the building. The concept from Match was to use light to “create a dramatic, dynamic and engaging façade that captured the excitement of going to the cinema”. As part of the design solution, our specialist team manufactured our bespoke Glowline fittings to carefully integrate into the façade of the building, and entrance way ceiling, by fabricating the diffuser as a dark charcoal so that it ‘disappears’ into the surface panelling when unlit.

We commissioned Architainment to also programme a dynamic range of lighting scenes, to create an exciting and welcoming atmosphere to the cinema entrance.
The Light Lab assisted on site with project management to oversee installation by our specialist team, ensuring that the final install was completed to the highest standard.
